How do I use a restaurant pager pickup system together with my ready2order POS?

We recommend the Retekess TD156 model with a separate number pad, IP67 water resistance and long-range transmitter. However, it should work with any standard pager system.

Using the pager together with ready2order does not require any complex installation or integration, but is done simply via the comment function during the ordering process.

Depending on the expected workload, several fully charged pagers should be available in the immediate vicinity of the cash register system. The charging station with the remaining pagers should be positioned directly at the food counter, ideally in such a way that customers can put their pager back into the charging station themselves. In establishments where the cash register area and the counter are in the same place, the pager system is simply placed within reach of the cash register.

Software Setup:

Each pager is provided with an individual number. The customer receives a pager, and the kitchen needs to know which customer is assigned to which number. In order for the pager number to be sent to the kitchen as a comment, a receipt for the desired product must first be created either on the kitchen printer or alternatively on the invoice printer. In companies that print meal receipts as standard, this function is already set up. You can find instructions on configuring the receipt function HERE. Pager systems are particularly useful for companies that bill directly when the order is placed.

  1. The customer places his order, e.g. 2 x Still Mineral Water, 1 x Coke and 1 x Tomato soup.
  2. The salesperson records the items mentioned in the POS. Since the drinks are served directly in this example, only a pager number needs to be stored for the tomato soup. Instead of briefly tapping the "tomato soup" button, it should be pressed and held to open the quantity entry with comment field. Alternatively, the item can be briefly tapped and the comment can then be added in the order overview by long pressing.

  1. The salesperson takes an available pager and writes down the number displayed on it, in this case “2”.

  1. Now you can type “2” into the comment field. At the end, tap “Add”.

  1. After entering the pager number, you should check whether it has been entered correctly. In the order list, the "2" should now be assigned to the tomato soup. As soon as everything is correct, the transaction can be completed by tapping "Cash payment".

  1. The kitchen printer now prints the meal receipt for the Tomato soup and contains the comment “2”. The invoice for the customers contains the same information.
  2. The Tomato soup can now be prepared.
  3. The finished Tomato soup can be assigned to the guest with the pager number “2”.
  4. The cook enters “2” on the number pad and then presses the key with the “bell symbol”

  1. The customer's pager vibrates or beeps when the order is ready for collection at the food counter. To avoid confusion, the same number ("2" in this example) appears on both the customers bill and the meal receipt at the counter.
Tip: Multiple pickup numbers can be stored on one order receipt for different items. If only part of the order is ready, the pager can be given to the customers again after the first pickup until all items have been issued.
