How do I change the ESC/POS (emulation mode) on my Star SM-230i?

  1. Turn on the printer
  2. Open the cover of the printer
  3. Press both buttons at the same time (power button and feed button) until the red light at Error flashes 5 times and still keep the buttons pressed
  4. Then close the lid (please still keep the buttons pressed). Do not let go until the printer beeps
  5. Release the buttons and a receipt will appear with EMU=Star Line Mode or EMU=ESC/POS Mode
  6. The EMU=ESC/POS mode is the mode we need to make it work
  7. Complete
  8. (OPTIONAL) If EMU= Star Line Mode is displayed there, start again at step 1
    1. From step 4 onwards the printer switches to EMU=ESC/POS
    2. Complete
