How can I use several printers in one printing profile?

Updated 6 seconds ago by

Sometimes one printout is not enough: the kitchen ticket also needs to go to the counter, or the same order is needed at two stations. A printing profile can therefore hold several printers, including the same printer more than once. This lets you print an order several times on one printer or spread it across several printers, without maintaining duplicate assignments on your products and product groups. In this guide, we show you how to add printers to a profile, remove them again, and use the profile afterwards.

What several printers provide

  • Several printouts on the same printer: add the same printer more than once to output a receipt multiple times.
  • Printing on several printers: add different printers to output the same receipt at several stations at once.
  • Both combined: a profile can contain different printers, even more than once.
Note: The first printer in the profile always prints the original. All following printouts are copies.

Opening "Manage printers"

  1. Log in to the POS.
  2. Click the white gear icon on the left to open the settings. On mobile devices, you will find the settings at the bottom right.
  3. Click Printer in the left sidebar.
  4. Under Existing profiles, click the printing profile you want to edit.
  5. Click Manage printers in the middle section.

You now see every printer assigned to this profile.

Tip: You may still know this section as "Change associated printer". It is now called Manage printers and can hold more than one printer.

Adding a printer

  1. Click Add printer to the right of the profile name.
  2. The usual printer discovery starts and lists the devices it finds under Available printers.
  3. Click Connect on the printer you want.
  4. Repeat the steps to add more printers.
Note: You can add one printer at a time. Select the same printer again if it should output a receipt several times.
Note: If a printer does not appear in the list, make sure it is switched on and installed correctly.

Removing a printer

  1. Click the bin icon to the right of the printer you want to remove.
  2. The printer is removed from the profile straight away.
Important: If you remove every printer from the profile, the message "No printers added yet" appears. The status bar in the printing profile overview then turns red, and the profile no longer prints.

How the profile overview looks

The Existing profiles overview still shows only the model of the first printer. To see which printers and how many a profile actually contains, open the Manage printers section.

Assigning the printing profile

Nothing changes about how you use the profile. Assign it to a product or product group as usual, and every printer in the profile is served automatically.
