How can I create and use custom price levels?

Price levels are essential, especially in German gastronomy: take-away dishes are subject to a reduced tax rate of 7%, while consumption on-site is taxed at 19%. With custom price levels, you can map this difference directly in the POS – without manual price adjustments.

Note: From January 1, 2026, the tax rate on food in German gastronomy is expected to be permanently reduced from 19% to 7%, meaning the reduced rate will also apply to on-site consumption. Beverages are not affected by this change. (Information without guarantee)

Requirement: To use price levels, you need the Gastro package.

Requirement: Activate price level feature

Before you can create your own price levels, you need to activate the feature in the administration interface.

  1. Log in to the administration interface.
  2. Click on Products in the top menu bar.
  3. Click on Price Levels in the dropdown menu.
    • If the menu item is not visible: click on Features and activate the toggle for Price Levels.

The price level feature is now activated and you will be taken directly to the overview.

Create a custom price level

In the price level overview, you can create new price levels.

  1. Log in to the administration interface.
  2. Click on Products in the top menu bar.
  3. Click on Price Levels in the dropdown menu.
  4. Click on the plus icon (+) next to the heading to create a new price level.
  5. Enter a name in the Name field (e.g. “Take-Away”).
  6. Optionally enter a short explanation in the Description field.
  7. Enable the toggle for Takeaway if this price level should apply to take-away products.
  8. Click on Save at the bottom of the dialog.

The new price level appears immediately in the overview.

Assign a price level to a product

To make a price level effective in the POS, you need to assign it to the relevant products.

  1. Log in to the administration interface.
  2. Click on Products in the top menu bar.
  3. Click on Products in the dropdown menu.
  4. Click on the desired product in the overview to edit it.
  5. Click on the Price Levels tab in the product.
  6. Click on Custom price levels.
  7. Select your created price level (e.g. Take-Away).
  8. Select the desired tax rate from the Tax rate dropdown menu.
  9. Optionally enter an account in the Account field.
  10. Click on Save changes to apply the assignment.

The product is now linked to the price level.

Tip: You can assign a price level to multiple products at once. To do this, go to Products in the menu bar, select the desired products and use the action Set custom price level.

Set up quick access for price levels

To select price levels directly in the POS with one click, you need to configure them as quick access.

  1. Log in to the administration interface.
  2. Click on Settings (gear icon) in the top right.
  3. In the left sidebar, in the Basic settings section, click on General.
  4. Switch to the Quick access tab.
  5. In the table under Gastronomy or Checkout, select Price levels in a dropdown of your choice.
  6. Click on Save at the bottom to apply the changes.

The price levels are now available as a quick access button in the POS.

Note: If the price level feature is activated, the custom price level button is automatically available on gastro tables during the ordering process – without additional quick access setup.

Apply a price level in the POS

Note: In direct sales and on checkout tables, the price level is applied to the entire order. On gastro tables, it only applies to the individual order, not the entire invoice.

  1. Log in to the POS interface.
  2. Select the desired product.
  3. Click on the Price levels button.
  4. Select the desired price level (e.g. Take-Away).

The adjusted price (e.g. with reduced tax rate) is immediately applied to the receipt.

Tip: Custom price levels are automatically reset after each completed order. As soon as you create a new invoice, select another table or place a new order on the same gastro table, the price level is reset to default.
