How can I set up automatic cash drawer opening for a payment method?

If you work with cash payments, an automatically opening cash drawer saves time at the checkout – you no longer need to open it manually after each transaction. In this guide, we show you how to enable automatic opening for a payment method in the Admin Interface.

Note: We recommend enabling automatic opening primarily for cash payments. For payment methods such as card payments or bank transfers, automatic cash drawer opening is usually not useful.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Log in to the Admin Interface.
  2. Hover over Products in the top navigation bar and click Payment Methods in the dropdown menu.
  3. Click the pencil icon on the right side of the desired payment method row.
  4. In the Payment Method dialog, switch to the Settings tab.
  5. In the Additional Settings section, enable the Open Cash Drawer toggle.
  6. Click Save at the bottom of the dialog.

The cash drawer will now open automatically after each transaction using the selected payment method.

Tip: In the overview table under Payment Methods, you can see at a glance in the Open Cash Drawer column which payment methods have automatic opening enabled (green) or disabled (red).
