How to perform a cashless payout to a card with readyPay

With readyPay, you can also make cashless payouts directly to a credit or debit card – even without a previous payment via readyPay. This is particularly helpful when a customer, for example, returns a deposit and wants to receive the amount on their card instead of in cash. In this guide, we will show you how to set up the credit note and process it in the POS.

Note: This article covers cashless payouts to a card without reference to a previous payment (e.g., for deposit returns). If you instead want to reverse a readyPay card payment that has already been made, you can find all the information in this article.

Prerequisite: Enable Cashless Payouts

Before you can perform a cashless payout to a card, you must enable the "Refund to card (credit note)" function in the Admin Interface.

Step-by-step:

  1. Log in to the Admin Interface.
  2. Hover over Products in the top navigation and click Payment Methods in the dropdown menu.
  3. In the displayed list, click the yellow pencil next to the payment method readyPay to open the settings for this payment method.
  4. Switch to the Refund to card (credit note) tab at the top of the dialog.
  5. Activate the toggle for Enable credit note.
  6. Enter the desired PIN in the PIN for granting credit notes field, which will be required before the cashless payout.
  7. Enter the amount in the Threshold field, above which the PIN is required.
  8. Click SAVE at the bottom of the dialog to apply the changes.

The "Refund to card (credit note)" function is now configured and ready for use.

Perform Cashless Payout

  1. Log in to the POS.
  2. Click the Cash Register tile (blue cash register icon) in the main menu.
  3. You can now add the credit in different ways:
    1. Click the white X in a circle at the top to activate the return mode and click the product tile of the item whose price you want to deduct from the invoice.
    2. Directly select a product with a negative amount.
  4. Then select readyPay as the payment method.
  5. Enter the PIN in the displayed dialog and click the green Confirm button at the bottom right.
    Note: The PIN field is only displayed if the payout amount is above the threshold set in the Admin Interface.
  6. The customer must now hold their card to the terminal or insert it into the card slot.

The payout amount is posted directly to the customer's card.
