What is the federal tax number?
You will receive your tax number from your local tax office. The number of digits varies depending on the federal state. The federal tax number (13 digits) (ger.: Bundeseinheitliche Steuernummer) is required for the TSE submission in the ELSTER portal. In this article, you will find out how you can easily convert your state-specific tax number into a federal tax number.
You can convert the tax number either automatically using a help page from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection | Federal Ministry of Finance or manually using a help table.
